"I graduated in May 2010 with an undergraduate degree in Financial Services, and a minor in Insurance. Indiana State's College of Business is second to none, and my experiences there have laid the foundation for my career in the financial services industry. I am proud to be a Sycamore, and proud to say I graduated with Summa Cum Laude honors."
With my enthusiasm to make this something I could do everyday, I spent every waking hour educating myself, shooting and looking for ways that I could expand this into a full-time job. I spent nearly 6 years photographing sessions and weddings on the side of a full-time job, and even had my very first studio space in downtown Terre Haute that I put all my heart and soul into after I would put my time in at my "real job".
In 2006 I made the scary decision to jump in head-first. I officially started my own business. I was pregnant, just bought a house and said good-bye to my steady paycheck. The pressure could not have been more ON to make this really happen. Through many stages of growth, I helped introduce the Wabash Valley to a lifestyle approach to documenting people's most amazing milestones and was greeted with support and excitement from those who I put in front of my lens. Since that date, our studio has photographed hundreds of sessions per year (including families, seniors and boudoir sessions) and on October 13, 2012 we photographed our 200th wedding. It has been an amazing 6 years.
Every step of the way in building the Roxy Studio, I knew one thing. My favorite part about being a photographer wasn't even about taking pictures. It was the indescribable feeling that someone gets when they see beautiful images of themselves.
The early days were fun days. It wasn’t about annual billings and awards: we were simply thrilled to do the work. This open-arms approach fostered creativity and enthusiasm. Even with our continued growth, we try to not view ourselves as an established, rigid agency. We’ve purposely avoided the traditional walls and layers of a larger agency — at any given time, it’s easy to see who is working on what, and where collaboration could help. The start-up mentality is also a financial one. Our net margin is above the industry average, not because we over-charge or rush the work, but because we’ve learned that it’s easier to spend less than sell more.
Hannah Farmer-Pruitt grew up in Southern Terre Haute. Just recently married Hannah has been a part of the WTWO and WAWV family since December 2010. Hannah is a graduate of Ivy Tech College with a Associate of Science in Business Administration. Other experiences included various Marketing Groups, Social Media Marketing, Radio Advertising, and Numerous Networking Groups as well as a member of the Terre Haute Young Leaders and Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce Ambassador.
After college Jeff Boone and I opened Cowpokes Western Outfitters in Anderson, IN. The store continues to be a great success. I am no longer involved but Jeff and I stay in touch. I left the western retail business to pursue radio. I did news talk in the mornings on WHBU in Anderson for a few years. I became General Manager of WHBU and WAXT and helped put a sale together with several other station in the Muncie, IN area.
I taught as an adjunct faculty member at Ball State a few radio/tv classes. While at Ball State, and still in radio, I began working on a .com business venture. It failed badly but I probably learned more from that than anything I have ever done.
I latter started Edge Marketing to focus on helping businesses grow revenue. This lead me back into radio. I helped launch a Business Talk Radio Network, produced a few syndicated shows and began consulting a group of stations in Terre Haute. In 2005 I became General Manager of the Crossroads Radio Stations.
In January of 2010 I joined Nexstar Broadcasting's stations WTWO and WAWV in Terre Haute as the Local Sales Manager and host of Valley Showcase. In March of 2010 I developed Valley Business Weekly for FOX 38 and began hosting the show. It continues to air on the new WAWV ABC.
We have a small farm near heart of Covered Bridge country in the Northern part of Vigo County. My wife and two boys enjoy raising sheep, playing sports and being active in Church, 4H and FFA.
